ROANOKE, Va. --- One week after traveling to
Randolph-Macon College to complete their regular season, Hollins
played host to the Yellow Jackets in the first round of the 2013
ODAC Women's Tennis Championships. Hollins came in as the
tournament's third seed with Randolph-Macon holding down the sixth
spot. HU topped R-MC, 5-2, to advance to the ODAC semifinals.
Hollins wasted no time jumping on their visitors by taking #1 and
#2 doubles en route to a 2-1 lead. Hollins needed just three
of the six singles matches to advance to next week's semifinal
round. Hollins fell at #6 singles, but won at #1, #2, and #3
to take the match 5-2.
Hollins will play the #2 seed, Roanoke College next weekend in the
semifinals. Hollins will play the Maroons by virtue of their
win over Randolph College on Sunday afternoon. The semis and finals
will be played in Virginia Beach on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan
College with the two semifinal matches being played Saturday, 1:00
and 3:00pm, followed by the finals on Sunday at 1:00pm.
