The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated Sweet Briar, 5-0, on Sunday to capture it's 20th consecutive ODAC title.

Washington and Lee University women's tennis has claimed 19 straight ODAC championships dating back to the 2003 season. The Generals enter the 2023 postseason poised to add yet another trophy to their mantle as the top seed enter next week's ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament. The Generals (10-0) posted their 16th straight unbeaten league campaign since the ODAC moved to team results to determine the conference champion in 2007. Sweet Briar College (9-1) wrapped up the second seed with its victory over Averett University (8-2) on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars, new to the ODAC ranks this season, will play as the third seed. AU tied with Randolph-Macon College (8-2) in the league table, but its win over the Yellow Jackets during the regular season awarded the higher position to the Cougars.

Top-seeded Washington and Lee University increased its streak of ODAC women's tennis titles to 19 straight with a 5-0 victory over second-seeded Sweet Briar College on Sunday afternoon. The championship marks the program's 31st overall.

2021 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament News

The No. 18 and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed its 18th straight ODAC title and 30th in program history with a 5-1 win over third-seeded Sweet Briar on Sunday.

Washington and Lee University thought it would have a shot at capturing its 30 ODAC women's tennis title last season, but with a lost season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the possibility of achieving that goal was put on hold. The Generals get that chance over the next two week with W&L holding the top seed entering the 2021 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament. The conference tournament embarks on a new format this season, both out of necessity from pandemic campus and travel protocols, but also to accommodate the sport's unbalanced schedule. The field is nine teams large for the first time in ODAC history, and will be played on four separate days beginning with first round action on Wednesday, April 28. The quarterfinals will be Saturday, May 1, followed by the semifinals on Wednesday, May 5. The championship will be competed on Saturday, May 8. All matches will be played on member school campuses.

The 23rd-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team captured its 17th consecutive ODAC Championship, and 29th overall title, after securing a 5-0 win over second-seeded Lynchburg on Sunday afternoon.

In anticipation of possible inclement weather, the ODAC men's and women's tennis championship matches will move to a new location and be conducted indoors on Sunday afternoon.

The ODAC has awarded 36 women's tennis champions over the course of its history with the first coming in 1983. Washington and Lee has stood as the victor on a record 28 occasions. The Generals again find themselves in the favorite's position as the top seed entering the 2019 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament.

The Generals will be one of four quarterfinal hosts, the remainder of which were partially determined thru tiebreakers.

Washington and Lee University finds itself in a familiar position following the spring women's tennis season as the Generals stand atop the eight-team field slated to compete in the ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament. W&L, which ran thru its ODAC schedule with a perfect 11-0 record, is ranked 13th in the country by the ITA, which is the same ranking the Generals enjoyed at the outset of the conference tournament last season.

The 15th-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated second-seeded Randolph-Macon, 5-0, in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship match on Sunday at the W&L Upper Tennis Courts. The conference title was W&L's 14th-straight and the 26th in the 33 years that the ODAC has awarded a women's tennis championship.

Washington and Lee University pushed thru its conference slate with an unblemished 10-0 record to place the nationally 13th-ranked Generals as the #1 seed entering the upcoming ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament. Randolph-Macon College, rated 14th in the ITA's Atlantic South Region, occupies the second seed in the eight-team field.

The Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed its 22nd Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship title after defeating Hollins, 5-0, in the championship match on Sunday afternoon on the campus of Randolph-Macon. The Generals clinched the match by winning all three doubles matches and their matchups at No. 4 and No. 6 singles.

The weather forced the semifinal round of the 2012 ODAC Women's Tennis Championships to be moved indoors on Saturday. Hollins wouldn't let a little weather delay stop them from a re-match with Bridgewater College, as the Eagles had defeated Hollins earlier this season, 5-4 in mid March.

The sixth-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed a 5-0 victory over No. 2 seed Hollins in the championship match of the ODAC Tournament on Monday morning. The win marks the Generals 20th ODAC crown. They also received the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins on May 14.

Washington and Lee will try to make it an even 20 wins of the ODAC women’s tennis crown over the weekend as the Generals (15-5 overall, 10-0 ODAC) enter play in the 2010 ODAC Women’s Tennis Tournament as the top seed. Winner of the past seven conference championships, W&L is followed closely into the postseason by second seeded Hollins (13-2, 9-1).
