Seeding Set for ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament

Generals Target 29th League Crown

FOREST, Va. --- The ODAC has awarded 36 women's tennis champions over the course of its history with the first coming in 1983. Washington and Lee has stood as the victor on a record 28 occasions. The Generals again find themselves in the favorite's position as the top seed entering the 2019 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament.

Washington and Lee will serve as one of four quarterfinal hosts, which will be competed on Wednesday, May 1 on the campuses of the top four seeds. Virginia Wesleyan will serve as host of the semifinals and championship in the ODAC's final four-plus format on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at the Marlins' Everett Tennis Center.

The University of Lynchburg, Randolph-Macon College, and Randolph College join W&L as quarterfinal hosts. Only the fourth-seeded WildCats saw their opponent easily determined, with fifth-seeded Roanoke College headed to Lynchburg on Wednesday.

The final three seeds in the eight-team field featured a three-way tie that was unbreakable by all means of the ODAC's tiebreaking system. The final step across all sports is a list of predetermined lots selected before the fall campaign begins. The random draw for women's tennis set out Emory & Henry College as the sixth seed, Bridgewater College as the seventh seed, and Virginia Wesleyan rounding out the field in eighth position.

The Marlins will head across I-64 to Washington and Lee, while the Eagles take a trip over Afton Mountain to Lynchburg. The Wasps travel to Randolph-Macon for their quarterfinal matchup.
