LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University Men's Basketball Team (2-1, 2-1 ODAC) shot 61 percent from the floor in the second half on its way to a 98-85 win over visiting Emory & Henry College (0-5, 0-5 ODAC) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action Tuesday evening.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled to a 9-9 tie at the 15:22 mark of the opening half. E&H then went on an 11-1 run which covered 1:20 to take a 20-10 lead. Down by 11 (32-21) with 9:38 to go before the half, the Generals erased the deficit and took a 50-49 lead into the locker room.
- W&L scored the first nine points of the second half to claim a 59-49 advantage 2:49 into the period. The two teams traded baskets for the next six and a half minutes before the Generals went on an 8-1 run to lead 82-64 with 7:18 to play. Emory & Henry chipped into the margin and got within eight (93-85) in the final 30 seconds, but Washington and Lee scored the final fiver points of the contest for the 98-85 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior guard Micah Banks (Simpsonville, S.C.) put up a team-high 22 points and added seven rebounds and four assists while senior guard Robert Holliday, Jr. (Kansas City, Kan.) had a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards.
- Sophomore guard Kevin Grau Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.) posted 18 points and four rebounds off the bench as junior guard Tyler Arnold (Kingsport, Tenn.) added 17 points and five rebounds.
Washington and Lee Individual Leaders
- William Bruggeman led all players with 28 points and added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Curtis Mitchell had 12 points, 13 rebounds, seven blocks and five assists while Richie Manault contributed 15 points.
- Mark Lamendola added 10 points and three assists.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 32-of-74 (43.2%) of its field goal attempts including 10 three-pointers. The Wasps shot just 55 percent (11-for-20) from the free throw line.
- Washington and Lee connected on 55.1 percent (38-for-69) of its shots from the floor with nine makes from long range. The Generals also struggled at the stripe, hitting just 13-of-23 (56.5%) of their free throw attempts.
- W&L held a slim 42-41 rebounding margin and the two teams but the Generals dominated the scoring in the paint, 58-36, and off turnovers, 20-7.
