Guilford College Interim President Jim Hood ’79 announced today that William (Bill) Foti has been named the College’s new Director of Athletics. He will succeed Dr. Sharon Beverly, who served as Guilford’s interim director for the past 16 months. Foti officially begins his Guilford College duties June 15.

The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Presidents Council endorsed a conference policy that will prohibit spectators at any ODAC indoor athletic event for the upcoming spring campaign. Decision-making throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has focused on the health of the individuals within the ODAC's athletic arenas and a safe return to competition. Enacting this policy will allow campus administrations to control athletic environments as we collectively work towards a return to play.

Director of Athletics John Sutyak has announced the promotion of Carrie Austin to Assistant Athletic Director effective December 1. Austin, who joined the athletic staff seven years ago, joins Gary Holden as the second Assistant Athletic Director on staff and will continue in her role as Head Field Hockey Coach, Senior Woman Administrator and Compliance Director.

The Virginia Wesleyan University Athletics Department has unveiled a completely redesigned website, courtesy of the Marlins' new website provider – SIDEARM Sports. SIDEARM Sports is one of the biggest brands in college athletics as they have partnered with numerous colleges and universities across all three NCAA divisions as well as NAIA and the NJCAA. The website will go live on August 12, 2020.
Dr. Kenneth Garren retired after 19 years as President at the University of Lynchburg. He and Sheila Garren were honored for their years of service to the University and overwhelming support of athletics with the renaming of the Kenneth and Sheila Garren Victory Bell.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the seven sites for its championships that are being relocated from venues in North Carolina on Friday morning, with Salem included among the new set of hosts. The City of Salem in conjunction with Roanoke College and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) were selected to host the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships.
