Randolph-Macon Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0, Sunday Afternoon

ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon College Volleyball Team (2-0, 1-0 ODAC) earned a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-22) win in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play over Emory & Henry College (0-2, 0-2 ODAC) Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set before a 12-2 run by R-MC made it a 12-7 contest. The squads traded points through the middle of the frame before the Yellow Jackets closed on an 11-4 scoring spurt for a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The teams went back and forth to a 9-all score early in the second before an 11-2 run by Randolph-Macon made the score 20-11. E&H clawed its way back into the set, scoring five in a row down 24-15 to get within four, but the Jackets got the point it needed to win, 25-20, and take a 2-0 overall lead.
- In the third set, the Wasps led 5-2 early and responded to four straight by Randolph-Macon to take an 11-10 lead midway through the action. An 11-3 run by R-MC made the score 21-14, but E&H put up five in a row to close the gap to two, 21-19. Three straight by the Jackets put them on the brink, 24-19 but the Wasps made the score 24-22 with three of their own before Randolph-Macon sealed the victory, 25-22, for the match.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) had six kills and 11 digs while sophomore right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) added six kills and a pair of blocks.
- Sophomore setter Abbie Dillon (Goodview, Va.) went for 10 assists and eight digs while freshman libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 12 digs and five assists.

Randolph-Macon Individual Leaders
- Grace Parker led all players with 12 kills and chipped in six digs while Sydney Koch went for seven kills.
- Emma Young and Macguire Gubba had 14 and 13 assists, respectively in the contest.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will play its first home match of the season on Wednesday, hosting Washington and Lee University at 7:00 p.m.
