ODAC Football Play of the Year

Who will be the winner of the ODAC Football Play of the Year?  You make the call!

Each week, our member schools submitted plays to the conference office for your consideration for the ODAC Football Play of the Week.  The 11 winners of those contests are eligible for this week's ODAC Play of the Year feature.  Watch each of the winners below and then vote for the play that you think is the best at the bottom of the page.  The winner will be announced on Friday afternoon.  Voting closes at 2:00 p.m. ET on Friday!

WEEK 1 WINNER: GUILFORD VS. GREENSBORO
  WEEK 2 WINNER: GUILFORD AT METHODIST
Description: Guilford quarterback Matt Pawlowski finds an uncovered Hayden Read down the sidelines for a 33-yard touchdown pass that gives Guilford the lead for good (31-28) in its Gate City Soup Bowl win. The play capped a 2-play, 80-yard drive that took 16 seconds. Guilford started the drive with no timeouts at its own 20-yard line before Pawlowski and Read connected on identical plays for the win.   Description: Down 34-27 at Methodist, the Quakers are facing 4th & 14 from the Monarchs' 28 yard-line with six minutes left. Methodist called time out, immediately followed by Guilford. On the 4th-down play, Matt Pawlowski wants to pass, but instead tucks the ball and scrambles away from a number of tacklers 17 yards to the Methodist 11 for a 1st down. Two plays later, Guilford scored a touchdown to tie the game for the fourth and final time with 4:45 remaining.

 

     
WEEK 3 WINNER: BRIDGEWATER VS. FERRUM
  WEEK 4 WINNER: WASHINGTON AND LEE VS. SEWANEE
Description: With 1:40 to play in the fourth quarter, Shawn Lee hauls in a touchdown pass in the back corner of the end zone with a defender draped over him.  The pass, from quarterback Willie Logan, covered 23 yards and helped BC secure a 51-28 victory over Ferrum.
  Description: Late in the third quarter, W&L running back Marshall Hollerith seemed stopped on his bid for a third touchdown, but he absorbed the hit and used a second effort to dive over the goal line to give the Generals a 35-17 lead.  They eventually won the game, 35-24.

 


 
WEEK 5 WINNER: HAMPDEN-SYDNEY VS. CATHOLIC
  WEEK 6 WINNER: HAMPDEN-SYDNEY VS. BRIDGEWATER
Description: Late in the third quarter, Hampden-Sydney running back Brady Macko busted loose for a 78-yard touchdown run in which he elluded a couple of defenders before reaching pay-dirt.  The score extended H-SC's lead to three possessions.   Description: Hampden-Sydney got its home game against Bridgewater started with a bang as the Tigers used a lateral from David Coe to Sidney Henry to open a 7-0 lead with a 95-yard kickoff return.  That touchdown was the first of four unanswered touchdowns as the Tigers scored the first 28 points of the game.

 


   
WEEK 7 WINNER: GUILFORD AT BRIDGEWATER   WEEK 8 WINNER: WASHINGTON AND LEE VS. BRIDGEWATER
Description: JerMario Gooch makes his team-leading third interception of the season in dramatic fashion to thwart a Bridgewater scoring opportunity. Gooch made a one-handed snag of a BC pass at GC's six-yard line and returned it out to the Quakers' 25-yard line. Before the game's lone turnover, the Eagles had driven from their own 28-yard line to the Quakers' 46. Guilford was holding a 14-7 lead at the time.
  Description: Late in the four quarter, senior linebacker Jeff Schulte showed good concentration as he broke up a pass and couple the juggled ball for an interception.  He returned it 40-yards for a touchdown to cap the game's scoring in W&L's 42-13 win over Bridgewater. That interception was one of five by the Generals on the day.

 


   
WEEK 9 WINNER: HAMPDEN-SYDNEY AT GUILFORD   WEEK 10 WINNER: CATHOLIC VS. GUILFORD
Description: After going into the half leading 35-0, Hampden-Sydney quickly improved upon its advantage following the break.  On Guilford's third play of the third quarter, Tigers' defensive back Zach Morgan intercepted a Quakers' pass and returned it 41-yards for a touchdown.  The interception marked Morgan's second of the season.
  Description: Midway thru the third quarter, wide receiver Andrew Ouellette took a crossing pass from quarterback E.J. Montgomery.  He escaped one tackler and absorbed the hit from another, spinning off that last tackle and darting the remaining 20 yards for a touchdown and a 26-7 lead with 8:11 on the third quarter clock.

 


   
WEEK 11 WINNER: HAMPDEN-SYDNEY VS. RANDOLPH-MACON    
Description: After R-MC back Will McGhee notched his second touchdown of the game, the score stood 28-26 in H-SC's favor with 1:35 to play.  The Yellow Jackets got two shots at a two-point conversion thanks to a defensive penalty on the first try.  On the second attempt, linebacker Tyler Ikwild stood up McGhee before he could get to the goal line, thwarting the two-point attempt and effectively sealing the Tigers' win and accompanying ODAC title.
