ODAC Football Play of the Week Nominees - Week 9

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 11 - Bridgewater

Bridgewater had a lot of big plays in its 50-13 win over Catholic on Saturday. One of the rarest highlights came after a blocked punt touchdown, which in itself is not all that common. Following the touchdown, PAT holder Josh Cretaro took the resulting snap and instead of putting it down for the extra point, he darted thru the hole on the left side of the line to a two-point conversion. The score gave BC a 22-0 lead with 1:49 showing on the first quarter clock.
  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 11 - Emory & Henry

Emory & Henry did most of the scoring in its 34-7 win over Guilford on Saturday. That included a pair of touchdown receptions by A.J. Hampton. For his second TD catch, quarterback Dominic Dunnaville got rid of the ball just before the rush got to him. Hampton had gotten behind the defense, but had to maintain his concentration to haul in the high-arcing toss among two oncoming defenders at the goal. The play covered 35 yards and gave the Wasps a 28-7 advantage with 1:19 to go in the first half.
  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 11 - Randolph-Macon

Randolph-Macon found itself in a tight showdown with Hampden-Sydney at halftime, but the Jackets outscored the Tigers, 24-0, in the second half on the way to a 48-23 title-clinching win. Among those plays was this 9-yard run by quarterback Burke Estes. Making his first collegiate start, Estes tucked the ball after being unable to find an open man, made his way towards the end zone, pump-faked one more time to draw away one more defender, and then dove over the goal line for a 38-23 lead with 5:14 on the third quarter clock.
  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 11 - Shenandoah

Shenandoah and Washington and Lee combined for 1,145 yards of offense in the Generals’ 59-42 win, but it was this blocked punt touchdown that proved the most dynamic set. With 6:45 to play, Malik Sims broke thru the W&L line and blocked a punt attempt. The loose bounded around for several seconds before Weldon Gilchrist, Jr. picked it up. He eluded several would-be tacklers before finding open field. He returned the ball 38 yards for a touchdown to pull the Hornets to within 10 at 52-42.
