    The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced that Washington and Lee senior Nathaniel James (Keller,Texas/Keller) is the 2008 recipient of the Byron Nelson Award, which is presented by Cleveland Golf in conjunction with the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and Friends of Golf.

    The Washington and Lee University golf team has completed two rounds of the 2008 NCAA Division III Golf Championships that is being held in Braselton, Ga. at the Chateau Elan Resort.

    Washington and Lee University held on through erratic weather at Poplar Grove Golf Club to win the 2008 ODAC Golf Championships. The victory marks the 11th overall league title for the Generals’ program and earns the squad the conference’s automatic bid into the national tournament at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia.

  • Washington and Lee Strengthens Lead at ODAC Golf

    Washington and Lee University senior Nathaniel James fired a two-under par 70 to help the Generals extend their lead in the ODAC Golf Championships to 28 strokes following the second round. Washington and Lee now boasts a 596 total (302-294) and takes a strong cushion over second place Guilford College (321-303 -- 624) into the final day of action on Monday.
  • ODAC Golf Championship Set for Poplar Grove

    The 2008 ODAC Golf Championship will take place April 19-21 at Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Virginia. Guilford College returns as the top seed in the tournament, looking to claim its third straight ODAC title. Amongst the Quakers’ hurdles are Washington and Lee University and Hampden-Sydney College, which trail Guilford by 2.6 strokes and 4.6 strokes, respectively.

  • Randolp-Macon Adds a Pair to its Athletics Staff

    Randolph-Macon College Director of Athletics Denis Kanach announced a pair of hiring over the past week in the Yellow Jacket athletics department. Ben Delia was named the new head coach of RMC’s defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship women’s swimming team. Ed Turnage will assume the reins of the school’s golf program.
