  • Tommy Thetford, Washington and Lee, So., Freestyle

    Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., led the Generals to a dual meet win over Virginia Military Academy last week, setting a pair of NCAA B-cut qualification times in the process. Thetford improved upon his already ODAC best times in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events, winning both along the way. In the 100-free, he stopped the watches in 0:45.49. He posted a time of 0:20.10 in the 50-free, which also ties his own ODAC record set during participation at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. Thetford helped Washington and Lee to wins in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays, posting times of 1:35.34 and 1:26.23, respectively.
  • Mackenzie Lingle, Emory & Henry, So., Multi

    Lingle, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va., won three times individually in Emory & Henry's quad-meet victories over Greensboro (217-32), Ferrum (222-28) and Randolph-Macon (186-76). Lingle stopped the watches first in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:54.84 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.75, with both times ranking inside of the ODAC's top five marks. She also won the 200-yard individual medley by 6.72-seconds in 2:18.62, her best time in the event of the season. Lingle helped her teammates win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.22.
  • Mohamed Saleh, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Backstroke/Freestyle

    Saleh, a junior from Cairo, Egypt, picks up his second weekly honor after winning two individual events and helping the Yellow Jackets to a relay triumph in a 107-98 win at York (Pa.). Saleh won the 100-yard backstroke in a time 0:53.07, which would go down as the second-fastest time in the ODAC this season aside from his own previous top mark (0:52.16). He also won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.90. Saleh swam a leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team, which stopped the watches in 1:29.62.
  • Rachel Leigh, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Backstroke/Freestyle
    January 25, 2016
    Leigh, a senior from Richmond, Va., won twice individually and posted the winning swim in the final leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay to help the Yellow Jackets defeat York (Pa.), 111-94. R-MC's 200-free relay team finished with a time of 1:45.61. Individually, Leigh stopped the watches first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.76. She also claimed top prize in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.91.

    Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., picks up his second weekly honor of the season after leading Washington and Lee to a dual meet victory over Catholic University. Thetford put his name above the rest in the 50-yard freestyle season listing, posting an ODAC top time of 0:20.82 to win the event. He also stopped the watches first in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:47.93. Thetford swam legs in the winning 200-yard medley and 200-yard free relays, which chimed in with times of 1:37.29 and 1:28.02, respectively.
  • Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee, Jr., Backstroke
    January 18, 2016
    Rollo, a junior from Haddenfield, N.J., collects her second weekly award after helping to lead the Generals to a dual meet victory over Catholic University. The reigning ODAC Swimmer of the Year won 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events, both of which she previously owns the conference's best times for the season. She posted a winning time of 0:59.64 in the 100-yard back and touched the wall first in the 200-yard back in 2:09.72. Rollo also helped Washington and Lee to wins in the 200-yard medley and freestyle relays. Those squads posted times of 1:51.44 and 1:42.06, respectively.
  • Stephanie Foster, Washington and Lee, Sr.

    Foster, a senior from Columbia, Md., helped lead the Generals to a double-dual win over Bridgewater and Hollins over the weekend. Foster won the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:10.38. She added a second place finish in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:38.27. Foster also helped the Generals to a win in the 200-meter medley relay in 2:08.12.
  • Nick Burton, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Freestyle

    Burton, a freshman from Chesapeake, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season as winning a pair of events and finishing as the runner-up in a third at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Burton chimed in second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.40, placing him second on the ODAC's top-times list. He claimed the conference's top spot in his remaining two events, registering times of 4:40.16 and 16:25.98 to win the 500-yard and 1,650-yard freestyles, respectively. Burton also competed in a trio of relays. He contributed to a first place finish in the 800-yard free relay (7:06.82), fifth in the 400-yard free relay (3:13.03) and 17th in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.60).
  • Michaela Nolte, Emory & Henry, Jr., Breaststroke/Freestyle
    December 07, 2015
    Nolte, a junior from Hillsborough, N.C., twice set the same ODAC record and posted three swims that eclipsed the NCAA B-cut in leading Emory & Henry to a team win at the Transylvania Invitational. Nolte won twice and placed second in three individual races, and then contributed to four relay wins. She won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.29, the second-fastest time in the ODAC this season. She then twice set the ODAC record and eclipsed the NCAA B-cut in the 100-yard breaststroke with preliminary and finals times of 1:05.09 and 1:04.99, placing second overall. Her third B-cut came in winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:22.96, the top time in the ODAC. Nolte swam a 0:24.22 leadoff leg in the 200-yard free relay, which marks the fastest 50-yard free time of the season. That helped E&H to a time of 1:36.70 in the relay. The Wasps also won the 400-yard free (3:34.08), 200-yard medley (1:47.62) and 400-yard medley (3:57.24) relays.
  • Noah Schammel, Washington and Lee, So., Butterfly/IM

    Schammel, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., picks up his second weekly award of the season after establishing a trio of ODAC top times in the Generals' second place finish at Franklin & Marshall. Schammel won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.10, while placing second in the 100-yard fly in 0:51.87. He also touched the wall sixth in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:59.63. Schammel also participated in a pair of relays. The Generals placed third in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:35.82 and chimed in fifth in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:32.76.
  • Emily Rollo, Washington and Lee, Jr., Backstroke
    November 23, 2015
    Rollo, a junior from Haddonfield, N.J., posted a record-setting performance at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, helping the Generals to a second-place showing. The 2015 ODAC Swimmer of the Year set new school and conference records in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 0:56.47. That mark also eclipses the NCAA "B" cut time. Rollo added a fourth place effort in the 200-yard back in 2:06.62. She posted a 2:05.49 in the prelims of the event, which is the top-time in the ODAC this season. Rollo also participated in four relays, all resulting in third place finishes. She competed in both the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays, posting times of 1:47.41 and 3:55.71. The 400-yard free and 800-yard free relay teams stopped the watches in 3:34.71 and 3:55.71.
  • Tommy Thetford, Washington and Lee, So., Freestyle

    Thetford, a sophomore from Birmingham, Ala., posted a pair of individual event wins and helped the Generals to a first and second place showing in two relays as Washington and Lee finished second of three teams at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet. Thetford won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.15, second in the ODAC this season to his previous time of 0:20.95. He went on to win the 100-yard free in 0:46.97, again second only to his previous best time of thes season. Thetford then swam legs of W&L's 200-yard free and 200-yard medley relay teams, posting a winning time of 1:27.62 and second place mark of 1:37.53, respectively.
  • Elisabeth Holmes, Washington and Lee, Jr., Freestyle
    November 16, 2015
    Holmes, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., put together a strong four-event performance to help the Generals to second place at the Carnegie Mellon Tri-Meet. Holmes won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.90, just 0.19-seconds shy of her previous ODAC-best time this season. She also stopped the watches first in the 500-yard free in 5:13.43, marking the fastest time in the conference this season. Her third place time of 0:54.25 in the 100-yard free was again just short of her own league-best showing. Holmes also swam a leg of the 200-yard free relay, helping W&L to second with a time of 1:40.99.
  • Nick Burton, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Freestyle

    Burton, a freshman from Chesapeake, Va., helped the Yellow Jackets to a dominant 126-76 win over St. Mary's (Md.) in a dual meet. Burton won twice individually and helped his teammates to a victory in one relay. He stopped the watches first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.74. He added a win in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:49.78. Burton also swam a leg on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 1:28.89.
  • Kelley Hilliker, Bridgewater, Fr., Free/Back

    Hilliker, a freshman from Middletown, Va., helped the Eagles to a tri-meet win over Greensboro College and Guilford College with three individual event victories and one relay top finish. Hilliker claimed both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes in 1:04.18 and 2:20.78, respectively. She added a win in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:40.48. She and her teammates stopped the watches first in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.94.

    Saleh, a junior from Cairo, Egypt, won a pair of events and helped his teammates to third in a relay as the Yellow Jackets squared off with Mary Washington in a dual meet. Saleh won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.65, and then added a victory in the 100-yard free in 0:47.99. He and his teammates finished third in the 200-yard free relay in 1:31.03.
  • Kata Kylliainen, Randolph-Macon, Fr., Freestyle

    Kylliainen, a freshman from Towson, Md., competed twice indivudally and participated in one relay in a dual meet matchup with Mary Washington. Kylliainen won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.44, and then chimed in second in the 200-yard free in 2:01.42. She and her teammates placed third in teh 200-yard free relay in 1:46.50.
  • Ivan Fadeyev, Randolph-Macon, So., Multi
    October 26, 2015
    Fadeyev, a sophomore from Manassas, Va., won three individual events and helped the Yellow Jackets to third place in a relay in the dual meet against Washington and Lee. Fadeyev won events in three different disciplines, including the mutli-stroke 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.44. He also won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.19 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:00.40. Fadeyev then helped his teammates to third in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:41.53.
  • Elle Chancey, Washington and Lee, Fr., Freestyle
    October 26, 2015
    Chancey, a freshman from Tampa, Fla., won a pair of individual events and helped the Generals to two relay wins in a dual meet against Randolph-Macon. Chancey won both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles, posting times of 0:54.86 and 1:57.90, respectively. She and her teammates then won the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays in 1:51.42 and 1:40.45.
  • Noah Schammel, Washington and Lee, So., Butterfly/IM
    October 19, 2015
    Schammel, a sophomore from Greenville, S.C., posted two individual wins, a third-place finish and helped W&L to second place in a relay as the Generals defeated Mary Washington in a head-to-head meet. Schammel won both the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events, stopping the watches in 0:53.57 and 1:58.54. He placed third in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:07.10. He and his teammates took second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.58.
  • Elisabeth Holmes, Washington and Lee, Jr., Freestyle
    October 19, 2015
    Holmes, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., competed for Washington and Lee in both a head-to-head meet with Mary Washington and at the ODAC Relays. Against UMW, Holmes won the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles in 1:56.71 and 5:15.56, respectively. She placed third in the 100-yard free in 0:54.33. She and her teammates placed second in the 200-yard free relay in 1:41.27. At the ODAC Relays, Holmes was a member of four relaying squads, winning three times. The Generals won the 400-yard and 500-yard free relays in 3:38.23 and 4:47.09, while also claiming first in the 3x100-yard IM in 3:13.56. Holmes and her teammates were second in the 200-yard free relay in 1:40.84.

    Childress, a freshman from Springfield, Ill., helped the Generals to a season-opening 157-91 win over Centre College with a victory in his first collegiate event. He won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:58.68.
  • Katie Gardner, Washington and Lee, So.

    Gardner, a sophomore from Irvington, N.Y., won twice individually and contributed to a relay victory in the Generals' season-opening 158-98 win over Centre College on Saturday. Gardner won both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events, posting times of 1:08.79 and 2:35.73, respectively. She later contributed to W&L's win in the 200-medley relay, which stopped the watches in 1:52.05.
