Three Honored as Top ODAC Track AthletesJune 23, 2011Lynchburg's James Bell (pictured) was joined by fellow Hornet Jessica Gibbs and Roanoke's Carmen Graves in being named the ODAC Men's and Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Year. All three competed in the NCAA Championships last month in Delaware, Ohio, and were standout performers throughout the ODAC season.

ODAC Names Jopson, Berkley WinnersJune 10, 2011Three student-athletes earned the conference's top awards in a vote of the ODAC Board of Directors at the annual league meetings earlier this week. W&L's Greg Kurkis was recognized as the Doc Jopson Award winner. BC's Christina Rhodes and W&L's Emmy Mathews will share the Marge Berkely Award., marking the first tie in Berkely Award history.

Saluting the Winter Scholar-AthletesMarch 30, 2011Five student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2011 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the winter athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.

LC Claims ODAC Indoor TitlesFebruary 25, 2011Lynchburg College claimed both the men’s and women’s crown on Friday evening in the 2011 ODAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Hornets earned 163 total points for the men’s title and the women accumulated 161 total points for the championship.

Indoor Track Championships PreviewFebruary 22, 2011The 2011 Men’s and Women’s ODAC Indoor Track Championship Meet will be hosted by Lynchburg College this Friday, February 25, in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University’s Tolsma Center. Field events begin at 1:00 p.m. with the first track events taking place at 4:00 p.m.

EMU Cross Country/Track Tabs New CoachJanuary 16, 2011Eastern Mennonite University has announced the hiring of Jason Lewkowicz as its cross country and track & field coach. Lewkowicz will finish out the 2010-11 athletic year at Hannibal-LaGrange University, where he holds the same position, before moving to Harrisonburg this summer to take over the reins of the Royals' program. Lewkowicz replaces Matt Dougherty.

Lynchburg Tops Men's Track PollJanuary 13, 2011Lynchburg College received all seven first place votes on the way to 49 total points in the 2011 Men’s Indoor Track Coaches’ Poll. The Hornets stand 11 points clear of second position Bridgewater College, which chimed in with 38 points. Washington and Lee University followed in third place with 32 tallies.

Hornets Head Women's Track PollJanuary 13, 2011Lynchburg earned five first place votes on the way to 47 poll points in the 2011 ODAC Women’s Indoor Track Poll. Roanoke follows closely behind with 44 tallies, having secured the remaining two first place nods. Washington and Lee rounds out the top three with 35 points. Christina Washington (pictured) looks to help the Hornets to their first women's title since 2005.

Dr. Toms Inducted in USTFCCCA HallDecember 20, 2010Lynchburg's Dr. Jack Toms was one of six individuals to be inducted into the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame. Toms joined Cleve Abbott of Tuskegee, Doug Watts of Edinboro, Bert Lyle of Texas Woman’s University, Jeanette Bolden of UCLA and Chick Hislop of Weber State in the Class of 2010. Very few non-Division I coaches have been inducted in the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame.

ODAC Players of the Week: Dec. 6, 2010December 06, 2010Indoor track began its season over the weekend, but its stay amongst the league's activity is short with no meets scheduled until after the turn of the calendar. LC Track Dedicated to Dr. Jack TomsOctober 09, 2010Homecoming arrived at Lynchburg College the weekend of Oct. 8-10, and as one would expect, events were aplenty. One such occasion recognized former Lynchburg cross country and track & field mentor and current Hornets' Director of Athletics, Dr. Jack Toms, in which the track was named in his honor.

Thomasey to Head LC Track, Cross CountryJuly 07, 2010Lynchburg new director of cross country and track and field is anything but a new face to the program. Doug Thomasey '05 was named Wednesday to replace legendary mentor Dr. Jack Toms and will over-see all six highly successful Hornet programs.
