  • Susan Dunagan Announces Retirement as Roanoke Women's Hoops Coach

    Susan Dunagan, the winningest coach in the history of Virginia, has announced her retirement as coach of the Maroons after 33 years at Roanoke College. Dunagan steps down as both the school and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) career wins leader, with over 600 victories.
  • Shenandoah Promotes Kraft to Women's Basketball Head Coach
    June 02, 2014
    Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Doug Zipp announced Monday that Melissa Kraft has been promoted to head women's basketball coach. Kraft, who was the Hornets top assistant this past season, becomes the 11th head coach in program history. She takes the position from C.K. Calhoun, who resigned two weeks ago to take a Division I assistant position.

    Emory & Henry College and Director of Athletics Myra Sims are proud to announceAnne Wright Crutchfield as the College's next Head Women's Basketball Coach. Crutchfield, a 1989 graduate of E&H, returns to her alma mater after spending the past eight years as the Head Girl's Basketball Coach at Franklin County High School.
  • ODAC Fall and Winter Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2013-14 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall and winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fifth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • EMU Falls to Christopher Newport in NCAA First Round

    A quick start by No. 20 Christopher Newport provided the edge as the Captains knocked out the EMU women in the NCAA National Tournament, 78-63. The Royals struggled with CNU's pressure early and couldn't make up the difference as they bowed out of the national tournament in the first round for the second straight year.
  • Messiah Tops Randolph-Macon in NCAA First Round

    The Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball team ended their 2013-14 campaign 23-6 overall after falling 91-62 to Messiah this evening in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. Messiah moves on to face host FDU-Florham, which beat Wells, 106-45, on Friday.
  • EMU Joins R-MC in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament

    Randolph-Macon College will be joined by Eastern Mennonite University in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, marking the third time in five years that the ODAC has received multiple entries in the women's ranks. The Yellow Jackets' entry into the tournament was guaranteed after earning the conference's automatic bid by winning the league crown, but the Royals had to wait to learn if their season would continue as one of 20 at-large selections.
  • Randolph-Macon Wins Eighth ODAC Women's Basketball Title

    Sophomore Katie Anderson scored 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds in being named Tournament Most Valuable Player as second-seeded Randolph-Macon outscored fourth-seeded Guilford 91-84 Sunday afternoon in the Championship Game of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference at the Salem Civic Center.
  • RC's Gwin, EMU's Griffin Headline ODAC Women's Basketball Awards

    Roanoke College guard Paxton Gwin headlines the 2014 All-ODAC Women’s Basketball Teams as the Maroons’ standout was tabbed ODAC Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s head coaches. Eastern Mennonite University mentor Kevin Griffin was named the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Bridgewater College forward Heather Cantrell earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades. Emory & Henry guard Kristie Langley collected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, in a vote of the conference’s sports information directors.

  • ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament Pairings Set

    Much was left to be decided in the final week of the ODAC women's basketball regular season, especially on Saturday's final play date. Eastern Mennonite University put the finishing touches on a one-loss conference campaign to stake its claim to the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament for the second straight year. The Royals and the remaining top four seeds in the 12-team tournament field earn byes into the quarterfinals.

  • Roanoke's Dunagan Picks Up 600th Career Women's Basketball Victory

    Roanoke College head coach Susan Dunagan earned her 600th career victory in the Maroons 80-43 victory over York College in the Marriott Classic. Dunagan, who has been at the helm of RC women's basketball for 33 years, is one of only 46 coaches at all levels of NCAA women's hoops to eclipse the 600-win mark. She entered the season with 598 career wins, and her squad took care of getting those two triumphs in their first two games on the season.

  • Eastern Mennonite Tops ODAC Women's Basketball Poll

    Eastern Mennonite University received six first place votes and 116 total points on its way to the top ranking in the 2013-14 ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. Guilford College sits second after collecting 112 markers, including four top nods. Lynchburg College garnered the remaining two first place votes and 102 tallies to place third in the annual coaches' survey.
