Benne earns NSCAA South Region Coach of the YearNovember 29, 2007The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) voted womens soccer coach Phil Benne the 2007 South Region Coach of the Year. This is the first time Benne has been awarded this prestigious honor. He will be in the running for national coach of the year.

W&Ls Van Devender, RCs Benne Collect Top W. Soccer HonorsNovember 07, 2007The annual All-ODAC Womens Soccer voting has ended and this years top awards have been set. Washington & Lee Universitys Anne Van Devender collected the leagues Player of the Year award and Roanoke Colleges Phil Benne was tabbed as the ODAC Coach of the Year. Lynchburg Colleges Betsy Kwiatkowski earned ODAC Rookie of the Year honors, and the Hornets Lauren Askey received her second straight ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete award following a vote of the leagues sports information directors.

ODAC Womens Soccer Championship SetOctober 31, 2007The ODAC Womens Soccer Tournament experience the conferences first postseason upset on Saturday evening as fourth-seeded Lynchburg College played even with Virginia Wesleyan College through two overtimes periods before defeating the Marlins 3-1 on penalty kicks. In the other semifinal, Roanoke College sandwiched two second half goals around one Washington & Lee University tally to defeat the Generals, 2-1.

ODAC Womens Soccer Tournament Pairings SetOctober 24, 2007Virginia Wesleyan College enters the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Womens Soccer Tournament as the top seed after finishing the conference regular season with a league-best record of 10-0-1. Roanoke College occupies the second seed while Washington & Lee University sits in the third spot. Lynchburg College maintains the final home-field slot as the fourth seed.

VWC Nudges Past W&L in Womens Soccer Preseason PollAugust 29, 2007Defending league champion Virginia Wesleyan College received seven first place votes on the way to 137 overall tallies as the Marlins were picked as narrow favorites over Washington & Lee University in the 2007 ODAC Womens Soccer Preseason Poll. The Generals collected the remaining five first place nods and 133 votes all together. Third place in the poll is separated by only six votes amongst four schools. Eastern Mennonite University and Lynchburg College each garnered 106 votes from the leagues coaches with Guilford College scoring 102 tallies and Roanoke College adding another 100 votes to the competition.

Hollins Names Carrie Moore OKeeffe New Soccer CoachJuly 30, 2007Hollins University and Athletic Director Lynda Calkins are pleased to announce the hiring of Carrie OKeeffe as head soccer coach. OKeeffe will begin immediately, taking over the program after the departure of head coach Kim Jones.
