Bishop Lacrosse Falls to Randolph on Senior Day

Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan's lacrosse squad fell to Randolph College on Sunday afternoon by a 19-4 score at Scalf Field. Head Coach Ramona Walters honored her 2012 Senior Class prior to the match as Lakwanua Hicks, Courtney Jamieson and Sacejewia Evans were recognized.

Randolph raced out to a 14-1 advantage at the break, but the Wildcats only out-scored the Bishops 5-3 in the second half. Freshman Julia Smith tallied three of Wesleyan's goals, while freshman Paige Brooks connected on a free position shot to round out NCWC's scorers.

Freshman Casey Burd tallied six saves in goal for the Bishops, who were out-shot 28-9 on the day.

Randolph held a slim 19-17 advantage in groundballs, but the Wildcats dominated draw controls 20-5. Samie Maggard led all players with five goals scored.

Earlier in the week on Thursday, Wesleyan dropped a 15-2 road decision to USA South foe Ferrum College. Hicks and Jamieson each netted goals for the Bishops, and Burd had a season-high 15 saves.

Wesleyan (0-7, 0-5 USA South) returns to league action on Thursday at Greensboro. The match is slated for a 4:30pm start.
