ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College Baseball team walked off with their first extra inning win of the season on Wednesday rallying from 3 runs down to stun Ferrum College 5-4 in 10 innings at Bauer Field. The win was the 3rd straight for the Bishops.

Sophomore DH Zach Lyon walked off the Bishops with a bases-loaded RBI single in the bottom of the 10th. Three walks, a sac bunt and a wild pitch helped load the bases leading to the big hit.

Ferrum had orignally got out to a 3-0 lead after 6 innings scoring one run off Bishop starter Galen Beaver and two more off freshman pitcher Chandler Padgett on a home run.

Wesleyan then began their comeback scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take the lead for the first time. Lyon first drove in Max Johnson on an error by the first basemen before LF Moses Vigo's 2-run double then tied the game at 3. Vigo then scored on a fielder's choice RBI from Murray.

Senior reliever Noah Shrock then came on in the 8th and threw 2 innings allowing one run on 2 hits with 2 walks. Sophomore reliever Alex Crosby then threw a scoreless 10th with a strikeout to keep the Bishops in it and pick up the win. Beaver threw 4 innings allowing 7 hits but only one run with 2 walks and a strikeout. Sophomore reliever Zach Woolard came in for Beaver in the 5th and got Ferrum to ground into an inning-ending double play to end their threat.

Catcher Nick Beaver and CF Drifton Padgett also recorded singles in the game for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan improves to 5-9 on the season while Ferrum drops to 9-5.

The Bishops return to action this weekend when they host Penn-State Harrisburg at 2:00 Saturday and 1:00 Sunday.
