Bishops Pick-Up Opening Day Win at Bridgewater

Bridgewater, VA - The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball team defeated Bridgewater Saturday afternoon 18-10. The slugfest was led by 4 home runs for the Bishops. Junior Jackson Hobbs had 3 to his own for the afternoon and added 8 RBIs and 5 hits. Junior outfielder Tyson Bass also hit a 3-run homer for the Bishops and walked 3 times.

Zach Lyon and Javier Quintana also contributed huge multi-hit games for Wesleyan with Lyon going 3/6 with 2 doubles and Quintana going an impressive 4/5 with 3 runs scored.

On the mound for Wesleyan, the story of the game came from Cullen Davis. Davis pitched 2 1/3 no-hit innings out of the bullpen and struck out 6 of the 7 batters he faced on the afternoon.

The Bishops will finish up the series finale and then head home to face Roanoke next weekend.
