ODAC Football Play of the Week Nominees - Week 8

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 08: Bridgewater

Touchdowns come in many forms throughout a game and one of the most exciting is a long kickoff return. That’s exactly what Raymond Goodman III provided at the close of the first quarter in Bridgewater’s 31-23 win at Emory & Henry. He needed very little shake after receiving the kick at the goal line as he found a lane and darted thru it before coming face-to-face with the kicker. A quick fake to the inside and he was gone, out-pacing any would-be tacklers to pay-dirt for a 15-10 lead, an advantage the Eagles would not surrender.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 08: Guilford

Guilford put together a solid performance in its 45-20 win over Shenandoah, with no showing more impressive than the 277 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns by De’Eric Bell. Guilford’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with 26th turned this carry into a cross-field elusive adventure that covered 40-yards to the pylon on the stat sheet, but was more like 60-65 yards of actual running. Bell’s effort put Guilford ahead, 38-20, with 3:19 showing on the third quarter clock. He finished with 227 yards in the ground game.

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 08: Hampden-Sydney

Cam Johnson continues to make plays for the Tigers as he shows up for a second straight week in the ODAC fan poll. This time, Johnson is one-on-one with a Washington and Lee defensive back in a red zone situation. Alec Cobb’s pass is put towards the backside shoulder, which Johnson reaches back with one-hand to haul in for the Tigers’ lone score of the game in a 36-6 setback to the Generals. Johnson leads the ODAC in receiving yards (707), is tied for tops in touchdown catches (7), and is second in receptions (66).

  • ODAC FBALL Play of the Week - Week 08: Randolph-Macon

Just about everything went right for Randolph-Macon in its 63-14 triumph at Apprentice School. That includes the answering of a Hail Mary at the close of the first half. Quarterback Burke Estes, who tossed a trio of touchdown passes on the day, heaved a jump ball in the direction of four would-be receivers and a host of Builder defensive backs. Deandre Gill went up and high-pointed the ball, pulling it in and turning the corner for a the remaining few yards for the first of his two TD receptions on the day. He finished with five catches for 110 yards marking the first receptions of his collegiate career.
