  • Vixens Tab Lott to Lead Field Hockey Program

    Sweet Briar College announced the hiring of Hannah Lott as the new head coach of the Vixens' field hockey program on Saturday morning. A graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, Lott was an assistant coach at Smith College before most recently serving as the interim head coach at Western New England University.
  • ODAC Fall and Winter Sportsmanship Teams Announced

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2013-14 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Teams in each of the fall and winter sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the fifth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.
  • ODAC and Select Schools Tabbed to Host NCAA Division III Championships

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and two of its schools were selected to host or co-host 14 NCAA Division III championships over the next four years thru 2018. The conference will co-host 11 events, 10 of which will be in conjunction with the City of Salem. Guilford College is charged with men's golf in 2018, and Washington and Lee University was awarded two years as host of field hockey in 2014 and 2015. Salem will also host three Division II championships, of which the ODAC may assist.
  • LC's Tenney Earns NFHCA All-America Third Team Recognition

    Lynchburg defender Melanie Tenney was the lone ODAC student-athlete to earn All-America recognition from the NFHCA, as the Hornets' senior was tabbed to the third team. Tenney was one of seven conference representatives on the All-South Region list, including three on the first team.
  • Lynchburg Field Hockey Falls, 1-0, to Centre in NCAA First Round Play
    November 13, 2013
    The 20th-ranked Lynchburg College field hockey team outshot Centre College 14-1 in the first half, but allowed a goal late in the match to fall, 1-0, in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Field Hockey National Tournament.
  • Shenandoah's Cross Headlines ODAC Field Hockey Awards

    Shenandoah attacker Ashley Cross and SU mentor Ashley Smeltzer picked up two of the major honors as part of the All-ODAC field hockey awards. Cross was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year, while Smeltzer was named the ODAC Coach of the Year. Washington and Lee defender Noelani Schulmeyer earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Bridgewater senior Colleen Dickson was selected the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's sports information directors.

    The 2013 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament bracket was released late Sunday night and Lynchburg College will face a familiar opponent on a familiar surface.
  • Lynchburg Captures Eighth Straight ODAC Field Hockey Title

    Lynchburg College scored once in each half on the way to a 2-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College on Saturday in the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament championship game. The win secured the Hornets' eighth straight conference crown, marking a league-record 17th title. The victory also awarded LC the ODAC's automatic qualification into the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament.

  • ODAC Field Hockey Tournament Pairings Set

    Lynchburg College and Shenandoah University earned byes into the semifinals of the 2013 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament in the sport’s six-team format. LC garnered the top seed after winning each of its eight league contests, while SU captured the second spot via head-to-head results over third-seeded Randolph-Macon College. Shenandoah defeated R-MC, 4-1, in the final regular-season contest between the two teams.

  • Lynchburg's Steele Posts 500th Career Collegiate Victory

    After 33 years in the making, head coach Enza Steele collected her 500th career win Saturday afternoon as the 14th-ranked Lynchburg field hockey team defeated York (Pa.) College, 5-2. The weather conditions were not ideal with torrential downpours throughout the game, but the fans in attendance were treated to history as five Hornets scored in the memorable victory.

  • Lynchburg Tabbed Atop ODAC Field Hockey Preseason Poll

    Lynchburg College picked up eight first place votes and 64 total points to lead the 2013 ODAC Field Hockey preseason poll. Randolph-Macon College collected 54 tallies, including the remaining top spot consideration. Bridgewater College rounds out the top three with 40 points.
  • Lynchburg's Milks Among Top 30 for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

    Thirty women, selected from a group of more than 450 nominees, have been chosen as the top honorees for the 2013 NCAA Woman of the Year award, including 2012 Lynchburg College field hockey co-captain Shelly Milks, who is currently studying in Lynchburg's Doctoral of Physical Therapy program.
