  • Quakers Finish Third at NCAA Men's Golf Championships

    The Guilford golf team finished up the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship in third place when play drew to a close at the Oglebay Resort & Conference Center in Wheeling, West Virginia on Friday afternoon. The Quakers finished 47-over-par with a combined score of 1179 (302-286-295-296). Guilford finished 24 shots off the pace established by team champion Illinois Wesleyan (+23, 1155) and 11 strokes behind Methodist, which finished second with a 36-over-par score of 1168.

    The Washington and Lee women's golf team finished in a tie for ninth-place at the NCAA Division III Championship at the Forest Akers Golf Club West Course in East Lansing, Mich.
  • ODAC Announces All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards

    ODAC champion Guilford College collected a league-best five all-conference honors in addition to two special individual accolades to headline the 2021 All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards. That haul includes a third straight ODAC Golfer of the Year plaque for Guilford's James Mishoe. Quakers' mentor Adam Crawford picked up his first Jack Jensen Coach of the Year award from his peers. Hampden-Sydney College's Meade Slonaker took home ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while Tigers teammate Allen Smith was tabbed the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's athletic communications personnel. Bridgewater College's Ronnie Uszenski garnered Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year plaudits.

    Three-time defending ODAC champion Washington and Lee University collected five all-conference honors in addition to a pair of individual special awards to headline the 2021 All-ODAC Women's Golf Awards. Generals' sophomore Megan Kanaby earned her second straight ODAC Golfer of the Year award, while mentor Kelsie Carralero was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year for the second time in as many seasons. University of Lynchburg first-year Emily Brubaker picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Bridgewater College sophomore Savannah Scott received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete laurels from the league's athletic communications personnel, and Sweet Briar College junior Annika Kuleba garnered ODAC Sportswoman of the Year plaudits.
  • Guilford Joined by W&L's Robinson in NCAA Men's Golf Field

    The NCAA announced the field for the upcoming Division III Men's Golf Championship on Monday afternoon. Guilford College, owners of the ODAC's automatic bid to the tournament, will be joined by Washington and Lee University's Pierce Robinson, who was selected as an individual competitor by the Division III Men's Golf Committee.

    Both the conference team and individual championships featured drama with the final few holes deciding the winners of the 2021 ODAC Men's Golf Tournament. Guilford College edged Hampden-Sydney College by two strokes to claim its league-record 18th conference title. Tigers junior Hunter Martin denied the Quakers their fourth straight individual champion by securing medalist honors by one stroke over 2019 champion James Mishoe.
  • Generals Claim Third Straight ODAC Women's Golf Title

    Washington and Lee University sophomore Megan Kanaby ran away with individual medalist honors by eight strokes on Monday afternoon, highlighting a Generals contingent that featured four of the top-seven finishers to power W&L to its third straight ODAC Women's Golf Tournament team title. W&L out-paced the University of Lynchburg by 13 strokes, 641-to-654.

    The 2021 ODAC Men's and Women's Golf Championships returns to Bryan Park Golf & Conference Center for a third straight championship despite the loss of the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All ODAC teams are active as they prepare to spend three days on the Champions Course at the Browns Summit location just north of Greensboro, N.C.

    ODAC men's golf was rolling when the pandemic forced the cancellation of the season in March 2020 with several players and teams ranking well in Division III. The expectations remain high for 2021 with teams retaining several high profile golfers. The league's coaches benchmarked what will be a very competitive set of programs in the 2021 ODAC Men's Golf Coaches Poll. Guilford College, winner of an ODAC record 17 men's golf championships, tops the chart with 116 points including seven first place votes. Following closely behind in second is Hampden-Sydney College with 113 markers and the remaining five top nods. Washington and Lee University, which donned the most recent ODAC crown in 2019, rounds out the top-three with 104 tallies.

    ODAC women's golfers completed a little more than half of their normal season in 2020 before competition halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, what we saw from fall tournaments and those played early last spring left plenty of anticipation for the start of the 2021 season. In prelude to competition, the conference's coaches conducted the annual ODAC Women's Golf Coaches Poll. Washington and Lee University appeared #1 in the first-ever ODAC women's golf poll in 2020 and that trend continues with the Generals topping the chart with 63 points including seven first place votes. The University of Lynchburg sits second with 55 markers and the remaining two top nods. Bridgewater College rounds out the top-three with 53 tallies.
