  • GC's Gross Wins Division III Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Award
    May 16, 2014
    Tanner Gross of Guilford College has been named recipient of the Phil Mickelson Outstandng Freshman Award presented by the Phil and Amy Mickelson Foundation as the most outstanding freshman in Division III men’s golf. Gross is the first Quaker and ODAC student-athlete to win the honor.
  • H-SC's Burt Finishes Fifth at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships
    May 16, 2014
    Hampden-Sydney College junior Brian Burt completed the 2014 NCAA Division III Golf Championships in fifth place at 3-over par (291). He played 22 holes on Friday as weather forced the suspension of action on Thursday, requiring many players to finish their third rounds before jumping into the final round at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro, N.C.
  • Tigers' Burt Leads After Second Round of NCAA Men's Golf
    May 14, 2014
    Hampden-Sydney College junior Brian Burt led by one stroke following the first round of play at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. By the end of day two, his advantage grew to four shots as he fired a three-under par 69 to stand atop the 210-competitor field at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
  • Guilford, Two from Hampden-Sydney Enter NCAA Men's Golf Tournament

    It was a done deal that Guilford College would be entering the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Tournament as the automatic qualifier from the ODAC, but the conference was awarded some extra representation on Monday evening. Hampden-Sydney College senior Rick O'Connell and junior Brian Burt both earned spots as individuals as the NCAA filled out the 210-man field.

  • Randolph-Macon's Bowling Leads ODAC Women's Golf Awards

    Randolph-Macon College and Hollins University each secured a pair of major honors as the ODAC concluded its second season of women's golf play with the annual all-conference awards. R-MC's Olivia Bowling was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while mentor Leighann Albaugh received ODAC Coach of the Year laurels. HU's Shannon Ciccarello was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year, while teammate Elizabeth Cheng earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award.
  • Hampden-Sydney's O'Connell Headlines ODAC Men's Golf Awards

    Hampden-Sydney and Guilford each took home a pair of major honors as part of the 2014 All-ODAC Men's Golf awards as announced at the ODAC Golf Championships at Rock Barn Golf & Spa this weekend. The Tigers' Rick O'Connell was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year, while mentor Mac Main was named the Jack Jensen Coach of the Year. GC's Tanner Gross earned ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades, while teammate Nick Shedd received his second ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award. Randolph-Macon's Bobby Bradshaw picked up the Ted Keller Sportsmanship Award.
  • Guilford Wins Fourth Straight ODAC Men's Golf Title

    Tied with Washington and Lee University after both the first and second rounds, Guilford College posted the team-round of the tournament despite rainy conditions with a 289 towards a 19-stroke win and its fourth straight ODAC men's golf championship. The individual race came down to the 55th hole, where a par by GC's Tanner Gross bested W&L's Conley Hurst for the individual medal.
  • Randolph-Macon Wins Second Straight ODAC Women's Golf Title

    Randolph-Macon College completed a wire-to-wire performance in the 2014 ODAC Women's Golf Championships to win it second straight conference title. The Yellow Jackets have won the only two crowns in league history as the sport was officially sponsored for the first time in 2012-13. Individually, R-MC's Olivia Bowling repeated as the medalist, also completing a start-to-finish victory.

    Randolph-Macon College sophomore Olivia Bowling is the individual leader by eight strokes following the second round of action on Monday at Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C. She shared her thoughts as she looks to wrap up the individual medal on Tuesday, while also leading the Yellow Jackets to a second straight team title.

  • ODAC Golfers Set to Tee Off in Championships on Sunday

    Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C., is set to host the 2014 ODAC Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships beginning Sunday morning thru Tuesday afternoon. Each of the conference’s nine men’s programs and five women’s squads will take to the rolling hills in the Greater Hickory area for 54 holes apiece. The men tee-off at 8:00 a.m. while the women hit the links at 9:00 a.m.

  • Guilford Leads ODAC Men's Golf Coaches' Poll

    Guilford College received eight first place votes on the way to 80 total points to top the 2014 ODAC Men's Golf Coaches' Poll. Hampden-Sydney College picked up two top nods on the way to 74 tallies. Washington and Lee University (61 points) and Bridgewater College (60 points) are separated by just one vote for third in the conference's first men's golf survey.
  • ODAC and Select Schools Tabbed to Host NCAA Division III Championships

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and two of its schools were selected to host or co-host 14 NCAA Division III championships over the next four years thru 2018. The conference will co-host 11 events, 10 of which will be in conjunction with the City of Salem. Guilford College is charged with men's golf in 2018, and Washington and Lee University was awarded two years as host of field hockey in 2014 and 2015. Salem will also host three Division II championships, of which the ODAC may assist.

  • Bridgewater Golf Teams Partner with Special Olympians

    On an off weekend for both programs, the Bridgewater Eagles men's and women's golf teams took part in a special event at Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg, Va. The Eagles supported competitors from around the state at the annual Special Olympics Golf Tournament held on Saturday, October 5. The Special Olympic golfers represented a wide range of ages, as well as a wide range of skill levels as they competed in an alternate-shot format with their partners.

The event, which featured teams and individuals from all ODAC schools, was played at Rock Barn Golf & Spa, home of the 2014 conference championship. R-MC sophomore Olivia Bowling earned medalist honors as the top individual.
