The Lead: The final two match road trip of the season got started on Saturday with a visit to Virginia Wesleyan. The Maroons would out-shoot the Marlins 23-12, but neither team could find the back of the net and Roanoke played their third Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) draw of the season.

Highlights:

  • A three-minute stretch during the first half would see a trio of Maroon shots but each were stopped. Vincent Lamina registered back-to-back shots that were blocked just moments after a Dylan Berk attempt was saved and the match would remain scoreless at the break.
  • Roanoke got six shots on net and the Marlins four in the second half but the keepers were up to the task. Zach Behe made all four stops and had six saves heading into overtime.
  • The Maroons got a shot off but it was off the mark and the match headed to a second extra frame.
  • Nathan Carey and Lamina each had shots on goal in the 2nd OT but each were stopped and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
  • Behe finished with seven saves while VWU's Griffin Potter stopped 10 Roanoke shots.

Up next: Roanoke travels to Washington and Lee on Wednesday for their final regular season road match. The start time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
