The Short Story: Sweet Briar handed the Roanoke College women's tennis team a 9-0 defeat in Salem on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Vixens opened up a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Ruth de Souza and Allison Wandling beat Halle Fernstrum and Julia Bassett 8-2 at #1, Sofia Andrade and Kate Kotany defeated Lia Streibich and Victoria Rios 8-6 at #2, and Maria Caro and Nikhita Simhambhatla collected an 8-0 win over Zane Maiden and Emma Johnson at #3.
• Sweet Briar won all six singles matches in straight sets: de Souza against Fernstrum at #1 (6-2, 6-2); Wandling over Streibich at #2 (6-0, 6-2); Andrade against Bassett at #3 (6-0, 6-2); Kotany over Rios at #4 (6-0, 6-0); Simhambhatla against Maiden at #5 (6-0, 6-0); and Caro over Maddie Morrell at #6 (6-1, 6-0).
