The Short Story: The Roanoke College women's volleyball team had a 2-1 lead over the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon, but the hosts came from behind to pick up a 3-2 ODAC win over the Maroons on Saturday in Ashland.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • R-MC won the first four points of the opening set and pulled away midway through for the 25-14 set one win.
  • The second set saw 10 scoring ties and nine lead changes, but a kill by Ryanna Clark capped a six-point run by the Maroons who claimed the set 25-22 to level the match at one set apiece.
  • It was back and forth early in the third set with the Yellow Jackets having a 16-13 lead midway through. However, Roanoke went on an eight-point run to take a 21-16 advantage. The Maroons won three of the final four points in the set to take a 2-1 set lead after winning the third set 25-19.
  • R-MC jumped out to a 7-2 lead and kept the lead throughout the fourth set and even the match back up at 2-sets apiece with a 25-19 set four win.
  • Once again it was back and forth for the Maroons and Yellow Jackets in the fifth early on with the score tied at 9-9. However, R-MC scored the final six points to win the match 3-2 after a 15-9 set five win.
