Highlights:

  • Roanoke got a pair of runs to start in the bottom of the first off a triple by Jacob Bonzon and a double by Conner Butler. The Cougars responded with two runs of their own in the top of the second.
  • Ty Staz put the Maroons back on top, scoring a run off a sacrifice fly by Tucker Schiavoni after hitting Roanoke's second triple of the game to lead off the top of the second.
  • In the third inning, the runs came a plenty for the Maroons with eight runs off of three hits. Roanoke used five walks in the frame along with three singles to extend their lead for good over the ODAC newcomers.
  • The Maroons batted around for the second-straight inning in the fourth when they scored five more runs on six hits, all with two outs. After T. Staz walked and stole second, Schiavoni, Corey Coogan, Bonzon, Mason Staz, and Jonny Wall followed in order at the plate with a triple, single, single, triple, and a single to plate the six runs, giving Roanoke the 16-2 lead.
  • After a leadoff double by Owen Lawn in the fifth and two putouts by Averett, Schiavoni, Coogan, and Bonzon once again followed with a single and two doubles to plate three more runs on four hits, extending the lead to 19-2.
  • A single run in each of the eighth and ninth inning by the Cougars was not enough with the Maroons cruising to the win.
  • Owen Ledford earned his first win of the season in relief pitching the fifth and sixth innings with two strikeouts.
  • Six different Maroons recorded at least one RBI with five picking up multiple RBIs.
  • Roanoke had 10 extra-base hits, led by Bonzon's double and triple and Butler's two doubles.
  • The 19 runs were the most scored by the Maroons this season.
