The Basics:

The Lead: The Roanoke College women's volleyball team opened Day 2 of the 2022 Maroon Classic with a 3-set sweep of North Carolina Wesleyan.
Highlights:
- Roanoke hit double-digit kills in each set with 14 in both the first and third sets.
- Rylee Mayer nearly had as many kills herself as the entire NCWC team. Mayer finished the match with 15 while the Battling Bishops had 17 as a team.
- The Maroon's defense was on display with 14 block assists and one block solo. Peyton Kirchner had four block assists to lead RC.
- The offense was also something to be seen as the Maroons had at least double the number of kills in each set than NCWC.

Records: Maroons 5-3, Fighting Squirrels 1-8
Location: Salem, Va.
The Lead: With a 3-1 win over Mary Baldwin, the Roanoke College women's volleyball won the 2022 Maroon Classic with an undefeated 4-0 record during the event!
Highlights:
- Roanoke once again had double-digit kills in every set and had more than the Fighting Squirrels in each set.
- MBU used four-straight service aces in the first set to jump out to a 4-0 lead and would score the final four points of the set en route to a 25-20 opening set win.
- Both teams had six attack errors in the second set, but the difference was that the Maroons finished with 11 kills while MBU only had six. Roanoke claimed the set, 25-15.
- The third set went back and forth before MBU pulled ahead 19-16 late in the set. However, the Maroons used a 9-1 run to end the set to take the 2-1 set lead.
- Roanoke only trailed one time in the fourth set, and that was at 0-1. The score was tied three times before a kill by Rylee Mayer closed out the 3-1 win for the Maroons.
- For her play throughout the four matches, Kirchner was named the 2022 Maroons Classic Tournament MVP. A complete list of the All-Tournament Team is below.
