HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Randolph-Macon earned all three points from doubles competition. Camilla Thurman and Catherine Mowry defeated Halle Fernstrum and Julia Bassett 8-4 at #1, Grace Holderman and Matty Grace Gilliam knocked off Lia Streibich and Victoria Rios 8-1 at #2, and Katie Sarnowski and Adele Huffman bested Zane Maiden and Emma Johnson 8-1 at #3.
  • The top two singles matches both went to a super tiebreak. Thurman came from behind to beat Fernstrum 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 at #1.
  • Streibich picked up a point for Roanoke at #2 singles, outlasting Huffman 6-3, 5-7, 10-7.
  • The Yellow Jackets won the other four singles ties in straight sets: Mowry over Bassett at #3 (7-5, 6-0), Sarnowski against Rios at #4 (6-3, 7-5), Gilliam against Maiden at #5 (7-5, 6-1), and Huffman over Maddie Morrell at #6 (6-2, 6-0).
