The Lead: The 2022 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament started for the Maroons with a semifinal matchup with Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon. After graduating in the morning, the Maroons traveled to Lexington to face the Hornets. Roanoke used a 5-1 start to each half to put Shenandoah away and set up a rematch with Washington and Lee for the title, 13-7.

How it Happened:

  • Tiernan Connor took a feed from Sydney Harrison and scored less than a minute into the game. Libby Bowman made it 2-0 and after a pair of Lilly Blair goals the Maroons had gotten off to a 4-0 start. The Hornets would break the streak before Molly Kasemeyer assisted on a Riley Chase score to end the period.
  • With less than five-minutes before the break, the Maroons found themselves a player down. However, Connor, from Blair, would give Roanoke a shorthanded score to make it 6-2 at the half.
  • Blair went back-to-back-to-back to start the second half and put the Maroons in frim control. Harrison and Chase each scored as Roanoke would duplicate the 5-1 first quarter.
  • Shenandoah made a bit of a rally in the fourth but Blair's sixth and an insurance goal by Emerson Foster made it a 13-7 final.
  • Blair had six goals and an assist while Chase and Connor added two scores with Kasemeyer handing out three assists. Foster claimed five draw controls while Addison Schmidt picked up four ground balls and caused four turnovers. In goal, Kyleigh Chickering got the win and recorded nine saves.

Up Next: Roanoke will face off with the Generals tomorrow in a rematch of the 2021 Championship game.
