The Lead: After suffering their first defeat of the season, Roanoke returned home to face Methodist on Friday evening. The Maroons converted a penalty kick in the open stages of the match and then used a 21-2 shot advantage to down Methodist, 6-0.

Highlights:

  • Liam Camilleri was awarded a penalty kick at the 11:26 mark of the opening half. Camilleri deposited the ball in the back of the net and got the Maroons off to a quick start.
  • With less than four minutes remaining before the break, Michael Chang sent a perfect corner kick into the zone that was headed into the goal by Vincent Lamina to make it 2-0.
  • Roanoke would add their third score of the first 45 minutes when, with 27 seconds to play, Chang set up Gabriel Hendi to make it 3-0 at the half.
  • Another corner opportunity would see Dylan Berk take a pass off the corner and deliver a strike to Chris Jerrild as Roanoke was in firm control of the match.
  • Berk would add a second assist when he found Nathan Carey before Chang picked up his third helper of the evening on a goal by Ryan Pidgeon.
  • Zach Behe got the start in goal and didn't have to make a save before he was relieved by Christian Mercadante as the pair would combine for the shutout.
