How It Happened/Highlights:

  • Grace Koutouzis scored the Maroons' first two goals, giving Roanoke a 2-1 advantage at the 9:58 mark of the first quarter.
  • W&L tallied back-to-back goals before Lilly Blair answered from a Koutouzis assist, tying things up at 3-3 with 4:41 remaining in the opening frame.
  • After the Generals opened up a 5-3 lead early in the second period, the teams then traded goals over the next few minutes. Koutouzis scored twice more for the Maroons, while Kate Loughran also got on the board.
  • Koutouzis' fourth goal of the afternoon pulled Roanoke to within 7-6 with 2:31 left in the second quarter, but W&L would snag the final two goals of the half to assume a 9-6 lead at the break.
  • Libby Bowman's goal with 10:18 remaining in the third quarter made it a 10-7 game. But the contest was then halted due to lightning, leading to a lengthy weather delay.
  • Following the stoppage, W&L registered five of the next six goals, going ahead 15-8 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Soria Ebert's free-position marker at the 8:55 mark would provide the only Roanoke scoring in the final frame.
