RC Women's Lax Upends Oberlin 20-7

The Lead: Emerson Foster and Ellie Armstrong each scored six goals as Roanoke topped Oberlin 20-7 in women's lacrosse on Sunday. 

How it Happened 

  • Goals by Foster and Armstrong in a span of 22 seconds gave RC a 2-2 lead less than three minutes into the game.
  • Oberlin's Annie Payne and Leah Crowther scored in a span of 17 seconds tied the game at 2-2 with 26:50 to play in the half.
  • A goal by Lilly Blair at the 18:49 sparked a six goal run that was capped by an Armstrong tally that made the score 8-2 with 10 minutes to play.
  • Foster struck again with just over two minutes to play in the half to send the teams to the break with RC leading 9-3.
  • Armstrong opened the second-half scoring one minute in to the period and Bailey De Turo notched a goal just over minute after Armstrong to extend the Maroon lead to 11-3.
  • Oberlin scored two of the next three goals to pull within 12-5, but RC went on a 5-1 run with a Jenna Kuczo score making it 17-6 with 8:30 left on the clock.
  • Tallies by Foster, Kuczo and Armstrong in the final five minutes of the game rounded out the scoring on the day.
  • Foster had seven draw controls to go along with her six goals. Armstrong had two assists to her credit, while Blair had three goals and one assist on the day.  Kuczo and De Turo each had two goals for RC. Molly Kasemeyer had four assists and Carly Schoudel made 11 saves for the Maroons in the cage.
  • Roanoke outshot Oberlin 38-26 and won the groundball battle 20-13. Oberlin led 17-12 in draw controls.
  • Tessa Siciliano had three goals for Oberlin and Maranda Phillips made nine stops in goal.
