How it Happened

  • Roanoke led 11-9 with 12:46 to play in the firs-half when Efosa Edosomwan converted a fast break basket.
  • VWU then went on a 12-1 run, moving ahead 21-12 on a Tim Fisher jumper with 6:49 to go in the opening half.
  • The Marlins led 27-19 with 1:30 to go but four consecutive points from RC's Kojack Thompson sent the teams to the intermission with VWU up 27-23.
  • Virginia Wesleyan led 36-29 with just under 17 minutes to play before RC went on a 12-2 run, taking a 41-38 lead following a Tripp Greene bucket with 12:45 to go.
  • With the game tied at 41, VWU scored 11 of the next 15 points to push ahead 52-45 at the 6:20 mark.
  • A pair of Caleb Jordan free-throws made it a 59-54 game with 2:07 to go, but back-to-back baskets by Fisher extended the VWU lead to 63-54 with under a minute to play.
  • Greene led RC with 16 points, while Jordan had 13. Edosomwan had 12 points and Thompson finished with 10 for the Maroons. Ethan Rohan snared a team-high 14 rebounds in the loss as well.
  • Fisher finished with a game-highs of 22 points and 15 boards. Daniel Spencer had 15 points, while Percy Burt and Corey Pelham each had 14.
  • RC made 20-of-53 (37.7%) shots for the game and VWU was 25-of-59 (42.4%) from the floor. The Marlins also held a 43-34 edge on the glass.
  • The loss snaps a seven-game win streak for the Maroons.
