RC Picks Up Sixth Straight Win With a 77-69 Victory over Shenandoah

The Lead: The Roanoke Men's Basketball team picked up its sixth straight win with a 77-69 ODAC victory over Shenandoah on Saturday.

How it Happened

  • A tightly played first-half saw the score tied at 28-28 with just over five minutes to play. The Maroons reeled off eight straight points to take a 36-28 lead following a Tripp Greene jumper with 2:41 to go.
  • SU cut the RC lead to 39-34 with under a minute to go before a Caleb Jordan basket with 43 seconds remaining sent the teams to the break with Roanoke up 41-34.
  • The Maroons came out in the second-half and scored eight of the first 10 points with an Efosa Edosomwan three-pointer pushing the lead to 51-36 with 14:43 to play.
  • Shenandoah was able to pull within in eight points at 58-50 with 7:33 to play, but RC would answer with a 9-3 spurt over the next three minutes to push its lead back to 14 at 67-53.
  • The Hornets chipped away and pulled within five at 72-67 on a Zach Garrett three-point play with 46 second remaining in the game.
  • RC would drain six free-throws in the final 39 seconds to seal the win.
  • Dillon Thomas led RC with a season-high 19 points. Kasey Draper had 13 points, while Brayden Gault came off the bench to score 10 points for the Maroons. Caleb Jordan had nine points and five assists and Ethan Rohan had nine points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds.
  • Garrett and Chris Oates finished with 21 and 20 points, respectively off the bench for Shenandoah. Garrett also grabbed a team-high eight boards for SU.
