The Lead: Roanoke scored four first-half goals en route to a 5-1 ODAC Men's Soccer victory over Shenandoah on Friday night in Salem.

How it Happened:

  • Senior Jackson Goyette got RC on the board in the fifth minute when he was able to corral a loose ball in front of the net and beat SU keeper Keegan Fairchild to make it 1-0.
  • SU responded just 1:36 later when Patrick Reilly picked up rebound and scored to level the game at 1-1.
  • In the 13th minute, Goyette took a free-kick that was headed into the net by Marc Hoppler to give RC the lead for good.
  • Seniors Orestis Ilias and Stephano Claude tallied goals in 40th and 45th minute, respectively to stake RC to a 4-1 halftime lead.
  • Roanoke padded its lead at the outset of the second-half when Cole Thornton scored just 44 seconds into the second stanza to make it 5-1.
  • RC outshot SU 14-6 and led 8-5 in corner kicks. Nick Tadros made one save in net for the Maroons.

Up Next: Roanoke will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Maryville (Tenn.) for a 6:30 p.m. match.
