The Lead: Roanoke College traveled to Bridgewater for a rescheduled game on Monday night. With the change in the original schedule, the Maroons will face the Eagles twice in the next six days. Roanoke scored the first 10 points of the night on their way to building a 30-17 edge at the break. The second half would see the Maroons push their advantage to 30 before closing out their hosts with a 70-48, Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win.

How it Happened:

  • Whitney Hopson found Rose Sande off the opening tip as Roanoke scored to start a run. When Kristina Harrel scored at the seven-minute mark, Roanoke had kicked off the night with 10 straight points.
  • Ayanna Scarborough pushed the RC lead to 13 before a 3-pointer by the Eagles made it a 20-10 game after one period of play.
  • A Bridgewater 7-0 start to the second quarter would get the home team back into the game. Scarborough would put a stop to the Eagle run and start a Roanoke 10-0 close to the second frame.
  • Bridgewater would close the gap to nine before Renee Alquiza scored a three-point play to spark yet another Maroon run that would see the visitors score the final 12 points of the quarter.
  • Five consecutive points by Lauren Keel would see Roanoke enjoy their largest lead of the night, 67-37, with just over three-minutes left to play. BC scored five points in the final minute but it would Roanoke that won the first of the two meetings this week with a 70-48 road win.
  • Scarborough scored 14 of RC's 35 bench points while Sande added 13 points and six rebounds. Sayre Brandstatter scored five to go with 10 rebounds and three assists.
