SALEM, Va.
– Trailing 12-9 with 13:17 left, Ursinus scored four straight
goals, including the game-winner with 2:48 left as the Bears (3-1)
rallied for a 13-12 win over Roanoke (1-2) Friday afternoon in
women’s lacrosse play.
Freshman attack Meghan Morley (West
Chester, Pa./Westtown) scored the game-winner with 2:48
left on an assist from sophomore midfielder Emily Diehl
(Lebanon, N.J./Voorhees). The run started with a goal from
senior attack Amy Sezack (Mount Laurel,
N.J./Lenape) with just under 13 minutes remaining to cut
the Ursinus deficit to 12-10. Junior attack Lindsay Urban
(Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scored with 6:54 left
to cut the deficit to one, followed by the tying goal from freshman
midfielder Rebecca Westlake (Lumberton, N.J./Holy
Cross) with 6:14 left to tie the score.
Ursinus led 3-0 four minutes in, but, trailed 6-5
at intermission. The Bears got three goals from Urban, followed by
two from senior midfielder Elizabeth Cannon (Garrison,
N.Y./James I. O’Neil), Diehl, sophomore midfielder
Kim Peifer (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and
Morley.
Defensively, Westlake had four groundballs, while
Hannah Kuranz had three. Westlake had three draw controls, with
junior midfielder Allison Furman (Gilbertsville,
Pa./Boyertown) adding in three caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper Alex McBride (Sewell,
N.J./Washington Township) made nine saves in goal for the
Bears.
