VWC, EMU Tie at the Top, Marlins Get No. 1 Seed

FOREST, Va. --- The final day of the ODAC women's basketball regular season provided plenty of movement within the standings that resulted in three different ties within the ranks.  Virginia Wesleyan College and Eastern Mennonite University finished deadlocked at 17-3 following Saturday's contest.  The Marlins enter the 2012 ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament as the top seed thanks to its 2-0 record head-to-head with the Royals during the regular season.  EMU will be the second seed.

Guilford College will play as the third seed, followed by Randolph-Macon College in fourth position.  Washington and Lee University tied with Bridgewater College in the standings.  Head-to-head tie-breakers award the Generals the fifth seed, while the Eagles will be slotted sixth.

The race for the final two seeds was decided via a three-way between Hollins University, Lynchburg College and Roanoke College.  Both HU and RC won their final regular season contests, pulling them even with LC at 8-12 in league play.  Using head-to-head tie-breakers, the Maroons will play as the seventh seed and the Hornets will enter the tournament as the eighth and final seed.

Tournament play begins on Thursday, February 23, with the quarterfinals in the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va.  The semifinals follow on Saturday, February 25, with the two winners playing for the ODAC crown on Sunday, February 26.
