SALEM, Va. --- The Lynchburg College men's basketball team rolled to a 90-67 win Friday over Hampden-Sydney College in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. The top-seeded Hornets advance to the conference semifinals to play #5 Emory & Henry College Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Hornets quickly forged a 10-0 lead in the game's first five minutes. LC was ahead 29-18 with eight minutes remaining in the half, but the Tigers used a 14-3 run to tie the game at 32. Lynchburg scored 10 of the final 12 points of the first half to enter intermission ahead 44-34 - senior Lyndon White drilled two three pointers in the span.

The Tigers scored the first basket of the second half, but LC took control with an 18-9 surge to push the advantage to 20 points and H-SC never challenged late.

Senior forward Austen Arnold became the 23rd Hornet to break the 1,000-point barrier after a pair of free throws at the 17:51 mark of the second half. He finished with 13 points and nine rebounds, and now has 1,005 points during his LC career.

Senior forward Alex Graves, the 2015-16 ODAC Player of the Year, posted 16 points, a game-high 10 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. He shot 7-of-9 from the floor. Zack Burnett had 14 points and four steals while White was perfect from the floor (5-5) and added seven rebounds and seven assists. A.J. Hamilton netted 12 points and snared five caroms while Bobby Ford drilled three three-point baskets.

Mitch Owens scored a game-high 17 points for Hampden-Sydney (17-10). Mike Murray tallied 11 points with five assists and four rebounds and Gray Cheers had 10 points.

The Hornets had a 41-31 edge in rebounding and shot 50 percent from the field (32-64) while H-SC hit 38 percent (21-56) of its shots. The victory gives LC 20 on the season (20-6), the program's first 20-win season in 40 years. The 1975-76 Hornet squad went 22-8 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

Lynchburg's semifinal appearance is the first for the program since 2004.

The tournament finals are slated for 3:30 Sunday, with the winner receiving the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
