Randolph-Macon Tops ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament Field

FOREST, Va. --- For the second time in as many seasons, Randolph-Macon College tops the field heading into the upcoming ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets, ranked fifth in the country by D3hoops.com and #1 in the NCAA South Region rankings, went 15-1 thru their league slate and are riding a 10-game winning streak. Guilford College stands as the #2 seed after posting a 12-4 conference record.

While R-MC and GC earned their seeds outright, parity reigned over the next four positions as a four-way tie featured in designated the next four seeds. Those positions were certainly coveted as the top six seeds in the field earn byes thru the first round and into the quarterfinals in Salem.

There is no better example of the parity that exists in the ODAC with four teams tied with 11-5 records. The University of Lynchburg, Virginia Wesleyan University, Washington and Lee University, and Roanoke College comprised the large stalemate. Head-to-head results among the tied teams sifted out the seed order as league protocol calls for winning percentage in games played between the tied squads to serve as the first step in the modified criteria under the unbalanced schedule. Lynchburg wen 2-1 (.667) in its contests against the other three tied teams, affording the Hornets the #3 seed. Virginia Wesleyan went 3-2 (.600) to earn the fourth seed, while Washington and Lee went 2-2 (.500) to grab fifth position. Roanoke went 1-3 (.250) to wrap up the sixth seed.

Emory & Henry College will start it's tournament title defense in the first round as the seventh seeded Wasps host 10th-seeded Eastern Mennonite University in one of two opening round tilts. Bridgewater College as the eighth seed will host the other with #9 Randolph College making the trip north.
