ODAC Announces Women's Basketball Tournament Field

FOREST, Va. --- Saturday's slate of regular season finales featured six league games with nearly each having bearing on position in the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament bracket. When the dust settled, the top two seeds in the conference's 10-team field are the same for the second straight season with Washington and Lee University and Randolph-Macon College occupying those positions, respectively.

Washington and Lee (16-2) stayed one game clear of Randolph-Macon (15-3) with its victory over Shenandoah University on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets faced possible tiebreakers scenarios with both Guilford College and Bridgewater College if they were to have lost on the final day, but R-MC scored a win over the Quakers to locked up the second seed.

Bridgewater (14-4) earned a victory at the University of Lynchburg to stay one game clear of Guilford (13-5) for the third seed.

Randolph College and Roanoke College featured in the lone stalemate among the tournament's 10-team contingent. Randolph topped Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, while Roanoke earned a victory at Averett University to leave both the WildCats and Maroons locked at 12-6 in the league table. Randolph defeated Roanoke in their lone meeting during the regular season, awarding Randolph the fifth seed for the second straight season. Roanoke rounds out the top six seeds that automatically qualify for quarterfinal play in Salem.

First round games will be hosted by seventh seeded Shenandoah (11-7) and eighth-seeded Ferrum College (7-11), the lone team not to compete in an ODAC contest on Saturday due to the conference's uneven number of sponsoring teams (13). Lynchburg (6-12) will travel to Ferrum for one first round contest with the winner facing #1 Washington and Lee to kickoff action in the Salem Civic Center on Thursday. Eastern Mennonite (4-14) heads north on I-81 to Shenandoah on Monday with the winner of that contest meeting #2 Randolph-Macon in Salem. Game times for Monday's first round matchups are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET
