BC Advances With 7-2 Win Over H-SC

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Bridgewater stayed alive in the ODAC baseball tournament early Saturday evening with a 7-2 victory over Hampden-Sydney at Lynchburg's City Stadium.

With the victory, the Eagles move on to play Randolph-Macon in Saturday's final game. The winner moves on to Sunday action where Lynchburg College awaits in the championship game.

Junior lefty Joseph Lucas handcuffed the Tigers on seven hits in a complete-game performance. Lucas struck out six and walked one.

The Eagles gave Lucas all the run support he would need with three runs in the bottom of the first. Devon Snow led off with a double and scored on a single by Bryan Sanderson. Jay Thompson and Zach Hynes added RBI-singles to put the Eagles on top 3-0.

The Eagles scored their final four runs in the fourth. Jonathan Mason was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a hit-and-run single by Darren Yoder. Snow then doubled down the leftfield line to score Mason, making the score 4-0. Nick Fulk followed Snow's double with one of his own to plate two runs, making the score 6-0. An infield error allowed another run to cross the plate, giving BC a 7-0 lead.

The Tigers nicked Lucas for single runs in the fifth and sixth, but the BC southpaw cruised through the final three frames to finish off the victory.

Snow continued his torrid hitting with three doubles in four at-bats. Snow is now batting .750, 9-for-12 in three tournament games.
