ODAC Baseball Tournament Seeds Set

Shenandoah Earns First ODAC Top Seed

FOREST, Va. --- Shenandoah University (28-7 overall, 17-3 in ODAC play) put together a 17-win season in league play to secure the program's first ODAC baseball top seed heading into the upcoming tournament at City Stadium in Lynchburg.  The Hornets athletic programs are in their second seasons playing under the ODAC banner.

Reigning conference champion Randolph-Macon College (21-13, 14-6) will play out of the second seed, while Bridgewater College (26-11, 13-7) will occupy the third seed.  SU, R-MC and BC will be the designated home teams in the opening games of the tournament.

The remaining three seeds were all determined by results on Sunday.  Washington and Lee University (18-11, 11-9) lost game one to Virginia Wesleyan College (14-22, 8-12) and trailed early in game two, but a late push by the Generals earned a 9-5 win and the fourth seed in the tournament.

Hampden-Sydney College (26-13, 10-10) and Lynchburg College (23-11, 10-10) ended the season locked for the final two slots, but the Hornets' entrance into the six-team field required some ninth inning heroics.  The Hornets trailed Roanoke College (16-18, 7-13), 5-0, until they put up six runs in the seventh.  RC responded with two in the eighth, but LC came back with a pair in the bottom of the ninth to punch its ticket to the tournament.  Lynchburg will play out of the #5 spot as its head-to-head sweep of H-SC during the regular season gave the Hornets the leg up in conference tiebreakers.

City Stadium, home of the minor league Lynchburg Hillcats, will play host to each of the tournament contests for the ninth consecutive season.  Play begins on Thursday, April 24 and runs through championship Sunday on April 27.  The first of Thursday's three games begins at 11:00 a.m.

Listed below is the schedule for the 2014 ODAC Baseball Tournament.  Due to the double elimination format, play on Saturday and Sunday could be altered depending on the number of teams remaining in the field (scenarios outlined on tournament website).
