LYNCHBURG, Va. –-- Junior Tim Benjamin drove in five and sophomore Mitchell Keeler knocked in four as second-seeded Randolph-Macon battered No. 5 Lynchburg 18-10 Saturday afternoon in an elimination game in the ODAC Baseball Tournament at City Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets (24-14) will face third-seeded Bridgewater tonight at 8:00 p.m. in another elimination contest. The winner will have to defeat No. 1 Shenandoah twice tomorrow to claim the conference crown.

R-MC scored in six of the first seven innings, including five in the first and seven in the fifth. Benjamin had a three-run double to spark the five-run first. After the Hornets (24-13) scored eight in the top of the fourth, Benjamin delivered an RBI single and Keeler followed with a two-run double to give the Yellow Jackets a 9-8 advantage.

Lynchburg tied the game at 9-9 with a run in the top of the fifth, but R-MC regained control with seven in the bottom of the frame.  Benjamin had an RBI double and he scored on a two-run homer by Keeler as the Yellow Jackets took a commanding 16-9 lead.

R-MC pounded out 16 hits. Benjamin, Keeler and freshman Stuart Brown each had three hits and three runs. Sophomore Nicholas Maiolo had two hits, including a double, three runs and two RBI, while sophomore Michael Wallman added two hits and two runs.
