Hornets Win Sixth Straight Conference Title
LYNCHBURG, VA – Senior
attack Tarah Rahner posted two goals Saturday afternoon
as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Randolph-Macon
College 6-0 in the finals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
(ODAC) Tournament.
Sophomore attack Kelli Williams opened the scoring from
senior Kristina Morris at 8:16 and the one-goal lead
stood for the next eight minutes. Morris tallied an unassisted
goal, followed by a Rahner score from junior midfielder Shelly
Milks. Senior Lindsay Leonard found the back of the cage
from Morris eight minutes before intermission and LC took a 4-0
lead into the break.
Milks scored five minutes after halftime and Rahner tallied her
second goal of the afternoon at the 43:17 mark. Junior Ashley
Nelson finished the scoring with 14 minutes remaining on the
game clock.
The Hornets outshot the Yellow Jackets 36-5 and held a 13-4 edge in
penalty corners. Nicole Woodworth made 16 saves for Randolph-Macon
(10-8).
The Hornets now await the unveiling of the NCAA Division III Field
Hockey Tournament bracket on Monday. Matchups, locations and game
times will be announced at that time.
