SU Tops W&L, 1-0, in Field Hockey Quarterfinal Action

LEXINGTON, Va. --- Fifth-seeded Shenandoah University registered the first upset of the 2012 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament with a 1-0 win over third-seeded Washington and Lee University Saturday afternoon in Lexington, Va.

The Hornets (11-7) avenged a one-goal loss to the Generals (6-12) on October 9 with the quarterfinal round win.

Freshman Kelani Bailey had the lone goal of the contest, scoring off of a Sarah DeLuca assist in the 44th minute.

Shenandoah dominated the contest, taking 21 of the game's 27 shots and all but two of the 14 corners.

Sarah Clare had to make just two saves to post the shutout, while W&L's Kirsten Kyne played all 70:00 minutes in the cage and recorded 13 saves.

SU will face top-seeded Lynchburg on Tuesday in the semi-finals.
