Lynchburg Notches Perfect ODAC Record for Sixth Straight Year

Interactive Tournament Bracket

FOREST, Va. --- Lynchburg College earned the top spot in the 2014 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament in the sport’s six-team format for the sixth-consecutive year after winning each of its eight league contests. Bridgewater College lost just once throughout the ODAC regular season, which affords the Eagles the second seed and a quarterfinal bye with LC into the semifinals.

Shenandoah University got a late goal in its matchup with Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday evening to lock up the third seed.  Randolph-Macon College stands as the fourth seed and joins SU in hosting quarterfinal contests on Saturday.  Washington and Lee University will make the trip to R-MC as the fifth seed.

Determining the final seed went deep into the ODAC tiebreaking procedure.  Eastern Mennonite, Roanoke College and Virginia Wesleyan College all finished with 2-6 records.  The deadlock remained thru the first three tiebreaking steps before being broken by goal differential in games among the tied teams.  EMU earns the sixth seed and will travel to Shenandoah on Saturday.

Saturday's two quarterfinal winners will play at Lynchburg and Bridgewater on Wednesday, November 5, in the conference semifinals.  The ODAC Championship will take place on Saturday, November 8, on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
