Generals Ride 15-Game Streak to ODAC Field Hockey's Top Seed

FOREST, Va. --- Washington and Lee University closed the regular season with its program-record 15th straight victory on Saturday to put the caps on an undefeated regular season that has rewarded the Generals with the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Field Hockey Tournament.

The 2021 tournament will be played under a new format with the conference moving away from the final four structure from years past. The quarterfinals will be hosted by the third and fourth seeds on Tuesday, November 2. The two winners will take part in the semifinals at the #1 and #2 seeds on Thursday, November 4. The highest remaining seed will host the championship on Saturday, November 6. All game times will be announced later this week.

Washington and Lee (8-0 in ODAC play), ranked 12th in the country by the NFHCA, earns a bye thru the first round along with second-seeded Shenandoah University (7-1). SU secured the #2 position with a 4-1 victory over third-seeded University of Lynchburg (6-2) in the final game of the regular season. Both sets of Hornets are receiving votes towards the latest NFHCA top-25.

Lynchburg and fourth-seeded Roanoke College (5-3) will serve as hosts for the quarterfinals. The Maroons earned a 1-0 victory over Randolph-Macon College (4-4) on Saturday to lock up the last hosting spot. The two teams will match up again in the quarterfinals with the Yellow Jackets playing as the fifth seed. Bridgewater College  (3-5) enters as the sixth seed and will travel south to Lynchburg on Tuesday.

In the semifinals, Washington and Lee awaits the winner of the Roanoke versus Randolph-Macon tilt, while Shenandoah will welcome the Lynchburg-Bridgewater winner to Winchester.
