ODAC Athletes Set for Return of the Indoor Track & Field Championships

FOREST, Va. --- It's been two years for ODAC indoor track & field fans to see their favorites athletes in action at a conference championship, but the wait is over with the return of the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend, February 26-27, in Salem, Va.

ODAC competitors return to the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse for two days of competition. The schedule is a bit altered from past championships with this year's affair starting earlier on Saturday. Field events begin at 12:00 p.m. ET with the first running event slated for 3:30 p.m. ET. Action continues on Sunday with field events at 11:00 a.m. ET and track events at 2:30 p.m. ET.

League athletes have assaulted the ODAC record books this season. Five different men's marks feature new names, while one record has gone down in the women's ranks. That mark, however, has been set and reset by two different standouts. Virginia Wesleyan University's Jalyn Lane is the owner of the women's triple jump record at 11.90 meters (39-0.50). A flip of the calendar separated Lane's record from the first time the triple jump entry changed names. Lynchburg's Anaya Seward claimed the record at 11.69 meters (38-4.25) in back in December.

On the men's side of the ledge, Washington and Lee's Joe O'Connor has twice reset the pole vault standard. His current mark of 5.10 meters (16-8.75) is not only the best clearance in ODAC indoor history, but it would also eclipse the league's outdoor benchmark (5.02m).

Virginia Wesleyan hurdler Landry Moffo methodically kept resetting the Marlins 60-meter hurdle record. He eventually added the ODAC record to his bio with a season-best mark of 8.22 seconds.

University of Lynchburg athletes account for the remaining three records. Tor Hotung-Davidsen has twice reset the ODAC 800-meter run record. He enters the Championships with a league-best time of 1:53.35. Teammate Max Sparks, a two-time ODAC cross country individual champion, is the new owner of the league's 3,000-meter run record at 8:15.57. Both Hotung-Davidsen and Sparks were a part of the Hornets distance medley relay team that set a new conference standard. Samm Llanzeza and Kyle Lauffenberger joined them in posting a time of 9:55.08.
