FOREST, Va. --- We said records were in jeopardy prior to the start of day one at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The record book has indeed been impacted.
Shenandoah thrower Kiara Felston and University of Lynchburg hurdler and jumper Aniya Seward each took down two records as part of a half-dozen new benchmarks set at the Kerr-Cregger Fieldhouse at Roanoke College on Saturday. Felston's teammate Tucker Kindig gave SU a second event winner and record-breaker, while Frank Csorba did the same for Lynchburg.

Felston snapped her own ODAC overall record in the weight throw, which she established earlier this season. Her toss of 17.11 meters clipped her previous overall mark by 0.02 meters. It took down the previous championship record by much more with the 15.98-meter heave by Whitney Fitzwater from Roanoke in 2011 now serving as the second longest in meet history.
Seward, who won the long jump (5.46 meters) in her first field event of the championships, set her records in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries. She is the top qualifier heading into Sunday's finals after posting a time of 8.67 seconds. Former Bridgewater College speedster Emily Valle was the previous record-holder with her championship (8.89) and overall (8.69) marks from 2019 falling to Seward's new time.
Kindig along with Bridgewater's Michael Smith both would have broken the previous championship record in the weight throw set by Kindig in 2022 (17.64m). Smith heaved the apparatus 18.07 meters, but Tucker won the event at 18.91 meters. He now owns both the ODAC overall and championship marks in the event.
Csorba is the new championship record-holder in the men's 5,000-meter run. His time of 14:37.58 eclipsed the 14:54.53 time established by Bridgewater's Jamie Hiegel in 2019.

Three additional events crowned champions on Saturday. Virginia Wesleyan University jumpers Terrian Smith and Geni Roberts added high-point marks to the Marlins first day haul. Smith won the high jump on jumps over Lynchburg's Devin Teal after clearing 1.96 meters. Roberts, a multi All-American in the long and triple jumps, added another long jump crown at 7.13 meters.
Washington and Lee University athletes featured in the remaining two finalized events. Carolyn Todd won the women's 5,000-meter run at 17:38.81, exactly three seconds shy of the ODAC championship record set by BC's English Jackson (17:35.81) in 2020. Camille Gillum was even closer to resetting the ODAC championship high jump standard. She won the event by clearing 1.66 meters, which is 0.01 meters short of the record set by Vicki Osinga from Lynchburg in 2000.
