BC Advances To Title Tilt With a 5-2 Win Over GC

ASHLAND, Va. --- Behind wins in two doubles affairs and a trio of singles matches, the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championship match with a 5-2 victory over Guilford College on Saturday afternoon at Randolph-Macon.

The match was moved indoors due to poor weather conditions.

Guilford picked up the first win of the match with a hard-fought 8-6 victory over the number one doubles pair of Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen.

Bridgewater fought back with a pair of doubles wins to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.

Junior Peter Hawkins and partner Christian Lynn teamed up for an 8-4 victory at number two to knot the contest up at a match each.

Bridgewater took the lead for good when the tandem of senior Brent Floyd and freshman Mike Cable earned an 8-4 victory at number three.

The Quakers picked up their final victory of the afternoon when Tyler Mercier upended Hawkins by a 6-2, 6-3 score in top flight singles.

Larsen got the Eagles back on track with an easy 6-1, 6-2 victory at number two to put the Eagles back on top.
