LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The University of Lynchburg won 17 combined events on the way to capturing both the men's and women's titles at the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hornets have now won an ODAC record 29 men's outdoor crowns, while the 2021 title ties Lynchburg's women's program with Roanoke College for the league's most trophies at 11.
Lynchburg collected 246 points on the men's side, out-pacing second place Washington and Lee University (113) and third place Shenandoah University (111). Lynchburg earned 238 points on the women's ledger, distancing itself from second place Roanoke College (140) and third place W&L (131).

Six different events saw records broken, including four in the women's competition. Bridgewater first-year sprinter Adalia Coleman is responsible for new benchmarks in two events. She set and reset records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. On Friday, she ran 11.94 seconds in the 100-dash to replace former Roanoke standout Jaleesa Osborne's 2010 record time (11.98). Coleman then topped herself on Sunday with a blistering 11.83-second mark. In the 200-dash prelims, Coleman stopped the watches at 24.62 seconds to again best another former Maroons sprinter, Robin Yerkes, who posted a time of 24.72 seconds in 2010. Coleman improved upon her own record on Sunday, scorching the Dr. Jack Toms Track in 24.72 seconds.
Lynchburg's Aniya Seward reset the ODAC overall and championship records in the 100-meter hurdles. She posted a winning time of 14.43 seconds, breaking the record set by teammate LaMaya Lacy of 14.59 seconds established earlier this season. Lacy finished second on Sunday in 14.55 seconds, which would have set the championships record if not for Seward's run.
Jaylyn Lane highlighted Virginia Wesleyan University's efforts with a new championship record in the triple jump. She finished the three-leap event at 11.94 meters (39-2.25), snapping the 15-year old record of 11.47 meters posted by Eastern Mennonite University's Wendy Driver in 2006.
Speaking of EMU, a pair of Royals were responsible for both records set in the men's competition. Alijah Johnson took first prize in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.45 seconds. That eclipsed the 21.55 mark that VWU's Randy Lott darted to in 2014.
Isaac Alderfer, the owner of all indoor and outdoor mid-distance records at EMU, added the ODAC championship record in the 1,500-meter run to his resumé. He won the event in 3:51.02, replacing the time of 3:56.27 set by W&L's Ian McDonald in 2016. Second place finisher Sam Llaneza (3:53.26) would have also broken the previous standard.
